Dree Thomson-Diamond is an Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive specializing in organization growth through effective, experienced and creative fund development, management and communications counsel.

For over 20 years, Dree Thomson-Diamond has been an active member of the non-profit and charitable communities. Experienced both as a consultant and as a full-time employee, Dree’s background includes appointments with the Alberta Emerald Foundation, University of Victoria, Northern Lakes College, Heritage Community Foundation, Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, Carewest, Olds College and a diversity of clients across western Canada and the northern United States.

Dree is experienced in establishing new fund development programs and campaigns as well as revitalizing and redirecting existing programs. She provides organizational audits and feasibility studies, restructures and develops new organizations, creates effective major and planned giving programs, and works with clientele in both rural and urban settings to streamline operations. Dree provides guidance and expertise in board and staff relations and is a successful recruiter of both key volunteers and employees.

An active speaker, Dree presents courses and workshops to a range of audiences. She holds a Bachelor of Recreation Education from the University of British Columbia (1984), has subsequently studied career and counseling psychology and after several years as a Certified Fund Raising Executive was awarded her Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive designation in October 2008.

A committed volunteer, Dree is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Higher Education Task Force, was the Ethics Chair with the Edmonton & Area AFP chapter (2001 – 2007), a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the Certified Fund Raising Executive Association (2005 – 2007), and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners’ Edmonton Round Table.

A partner, mother and stepmother, Dree is an outdoor enthusiast and equestrian. Her interests encompass travel, music, food and wine, gardening, sailing, skiing and a wide range of literary and artistic pursuits.
